If you write to our Data Protection Officer by post and mark the envelope “confidential” or “personal”, it will be passed on unopened.

3. About This Notice

This website has been deliberately kept simple. It contains no forms, no analytics or tracking tools, and no embedded content from third-party providers. This notice is correspondingly brief, because there is simply little to explain.

We process personal data only to the extent necessary to operate the website and to respond to your enquiries. For each processing activity, we set out below the purpose, the legal basis and the retention period.

4. Accessing the Website (Server Log Files)

When you visit our website, your browser transmits technically necessary data to our server. This data is stored in what are known as log files:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • Date and time of access
  • Name and URL of the file accessed
  • Amount of data transferred and a notification of whether the request was successful
  • The previously visited page (referrer), where transmitted by your browser
  • Browser type and version, operating system and language settings

An IP address constitutes personal data. We treat this information accordingly and do not claim that it is anonymous.

Purpose: To deliver the website, to ensure its stable and uninterrupted operation, to analyse errors, and to detect and defend against attacks on our systems.

Legal Basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in making the website technically available and protecting it against attacks. It is not technically possible to operate a website without processing this data.

Retention Period: 7 days. The log files are then deleted automatically. Where specific entries are required to investigate a particular security incident, we retain them until the incident has been fully resolved.

We do not combine this data with other data sources, nor do we use it to create user profiles.

5. Hosting

We do not host this website on our own servers but use a specialist service provider:

Raidboxes GmbH
Hafenstraße 32
48153 Münster
Germany

The service provider stores the data exclusively on servers located in Germany. It processes the data solely on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions. We have entered into a data processing agreement with the provider pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR governing the details.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the secure, up-to-date and reliably maintained operation of our website.

6. Cookies and Access to Your Device

No cookies are set when you visit the publicly accessible areas of this website. Nor is any other information stored on, or read from, your device.

Consent under Section 25(1) of the German Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG) is therefore not required, and for the same reason you will not see a cookie banner here. Should we use services requiring consent in the future, we will obtain your consent beforehand and update this notice accordingly.

In the internal editorial area, which is accessible only to authorised members of staff who have logged in, technically necessary cookies are used for authentication and session management. These are strictly necessary for the provision of the service (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG) and do not affect visitors to the website.

7. Search Function

Our website includes a search function. Your search terms are transmitted exclusively to our own server and processed there. No external search service is integrated, and your entries do not leave our systems.

For technical reasons, search terms may form part of the log files described in Section 4 and are then subject to the same retention period.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in providing a usable website.

Please do not enter any personal or confidential information in the search field. Such information is not needed to search our content.

8. Contacting Us by Email or Telephone

Our website does not contain any contact forms. The email addresses shown are set up as links: clicking on one opens your own email program. The website itself does not collect, transmit or store any data in the process.

If you subsequently write to us or call us, we process the information you provide to us, which will usually include your name, your contact details and the content of your message.

Purpose: To handle and respond to your enquiry.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, where your enquiry relates to the preparation or performance of a contract. In all other cases, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries addressed to us.

Provision of data: Providing your details is voluntary. However, we cannot reply to you without your contact details.

Retention period: We delete your message once your enquiry has been fully dealt with, provided that no statutory retention obligations apply. For business correspondence, the retention periods under commercial and tax law are six and ten years respectively (Section 257 of the German Commercial Code (HGB) and Section 147 of the German Fiscal Code (AO)).

Note on email security: Emails are normally encrypted in transit, but they are stored unencrypted on the servers involved. Complete protection of their content therefore cannot be guaranteed. For confidential matters, we will be happy to provide a secure transmission method on request.

9. Job Vacancies and Applications

We publish job vacancies on this website. We do not have our own application form.

To apply, you will be directed via a link to the applicant portal of Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG. By clicking on this link, you leave our website. The entity named on that portal is then responsible for any further processing of your application data, and its privacy notice applies. No application data is transmitted to us via our website.

Please note: for security-sensitive roles, a security clearance under the German Security Clearance Act (Sicherheitsüberprüfungsgesetz – SÜG) may be required at a later stage of the application process. We will inform you of this separately and in good time during the application process; no such processing takes place via this website.

10. Links to External Services

We link to third-party services, such as our company profile on LinkedIn, pages of Rohde & Schwarz GmbH & Co. KG, and a map service for directions.

These are ordinary links. No content from these providers is loaded automatically, and unless you click on a link, the provider concerned will not be aware of your visit to our website.

As soon as you click on a link, you leave our website. The provider will then receive your IP address and, where applicable, other data. We have no influence over this processing, and the privacy notice of the respective provider applies.

11. Recipients

We disclose personal data only where this is necessary for the purposes stated or where we are legally obliged to do so. Recipients are:

  • our hosting provider (Section 5), acting as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR
  • our web agency, responsible for the development, technical support and maintenance of the website:
Sektor Marketing GmbH & Co. KG,

    Altes Trafohaus, Zeche Waltrop,
    Sydowstraße 39, 45731 Waltrop, Germany
  • public authorities and government bodies, where we are legally obliged to disclose data to them

We do not sell personal data, nor do we pass it on to third parties for advertising purposes.

12. Transfers to Countries Outside the EU

Based on the current technical set-up, no personal data is transferred to countries outside the European Union or the European Economic Area when you use this website. All systems used are operated within Germany.

Should this change, we will inform you here of the recipients and of the safeguards on which any such transfer is based.

13. Your Rights

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR): to know whether we process data about you and, if so, which data
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR): to have inaccurate data corrected or incomplete data completed
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR): to receive your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format
  • Right to withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR): at any time, with effect for the future; processing carried out before withdrawal remains lawful

You may exercise these rights free of charge. To do so, please use the contact details set out in Section 1 or Section 2.

Right to object

Where we process your data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR). We will then no longer process your data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

14. Right to Lodge a Complaint with a Supervisory Authority

Without prejudice to the rights set out above, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority at any time if you consider that we are not processing your data lawfully (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is:

Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen
(State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia)
Kavalleriestraße 2–4
40213 Düsseldorf
Telefon: 0211 38424-0
E-Mail: poststelle@ldi.nrw.de

You may also contact the supervisory authority in the place of your habitual residence or place of work.

Lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority does not replace contacting us directly. We would be grateful if you would approach us first, as matters can often be resolved more quickly that way.

15. No Automated Decision-Making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. Nor does this website incorporate any AI-based features: there is no chatbot, no AI search assistant and no automatic real-time translation. Content in other languages is provided as fixed text.

16. Data Security

We use transport layer encryption (TLS) to prevent third parties from intercepting your connection to our website. You can recognise this by the address bar of your browser, which begins with https://, and by the padlock symbol.

In addition, we implement technical and organisational measures in accordance with Art. 32 GDPR to protect your data against loss, destruction, and unauthorised access or alteration. We continually adapt these measures to the state of the art.

17. Changes to This Privacy Notice

We will update this notice if our website or the applicable legal requirements change. The version published here at any given time shall apply.
